Chairperson Message

Dear Professional Colleagues and Visitors

Greetings From ICAI Udupi Branch

The month of March 2026 has been both engaging and enriching for our branch,
marked by a series of meaningful initiatives aimed at enhancing professional
knowledge and fostering member participation.

We began the month on a vibrant note with the successful celebration of
“PRERITHA 2026” – Women’s Day on 8th March, which witnessed an excellent
response and added great enthusiasm to our branch activities.

As part of our continued focus on professional development, a CPE seminar was
held on 7th March 2026 on “Relearning PGBP under the New Income-tax Law”. The
session, led by CA Prasanna Shenoy, Past Chairman of ICAI Mangalore Branch,
offered valuable insights into the evolving tax landscape.

On 14th March 2026, we conducted a technical session on “Capital Gains under the
Income-tax Act, 2025 – A Comparative Analysis with the Income-tax Act, 1961”. The
session was ably handled by CA Gautham Nayak, Past Chairman of ICAI
Mangalore Branch, offering members a clear and comparative understanding of the subject.

A key highlight of the month was the Bank Branch Audit Seminar held on 17th
March 2026 at Ocean Pearl Hotel, under the aegis of the Auditing and Assurance
Board of ICAI. We were honoured to have Mr. Ashok Ambasa Bhandige, Regional
Head, Union Bank of India, as the Chief Guest.

The seminar featured insightful sessions by CA Suresh P R, Bangalore, on
“Understanding IRAC Norms and Effective Reporting in LFAR”, and CA Uppalapati
Saran Kumar, on “Technology in Bank Branch Audit using Excel and Audit Tools
Effectively”. The programme witnessed an excellent response from members and was
highly appreciated.

Further, a CPE seminar on 21st March 2026 on “Recent Judicial Developments under
the Income-tax Act – Practical Impact on Assessments, Appeals, and Compliance Filings”
was delivered by CA Prakash Hegde, Bangalore, offering practical insights relevant
to our professional work.

I am also pleased to share the inauguration of a Reading Room at Shivamogga
managed by the ICAI Udupi branch, an initiative for the benefit of the students. A
similar facility is already available at the Udupi Branch. I request all the members to
encourage the students to make effective use of these facilities.

As we step into the new financial year, I extend my heartfelt wishes to all members
for a happy, prosperous, and professionally rewarding Accounting Year 2026–27.

I look forward to your continued support and active participation in all the
initiatives of the branch.

Warm regards,
CA M Raghavendra Mogeraya
Chairman
ICAI Udupi Branch (SIRC)
